VP of Finance

The successful candidate will be a strategic individual with 7-10 years of managerial accounting and financial management experience, in a rapidly growing software start-up environment within the technology consulting and SAAS industry. This position reports to the CEO but has a dotted line responsibility directly to the Board of Managers.

Responsibilities
  • Direct all aspects of accounting operations, overseeing transactions related to general ledger, receivables, payables, payroll, and financial reporting.
  • Overseeing all HR functions – existing full time HR manager reports to you.
  • Analyze company’s financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs and compliance with budgets. Issue regular financial reports and work closely with senior management to create ad hoc financial reports.
  • Oversee allocations of costs to profit centers and projects. Issue profitability reports by business line and by project, supporting line managers in understanding margins and profitability.
  • Support CEO, Line Managers, and sales team by creating and/or reviewing project/customer budgets, expenses and cash flow planning.
  • Provide strategic guidance and return on Investment analysis to support capital investment decisions.
  • Develop and maintain all necessary accounting policies and systems, including general ledger and financial reporting. Ensuring that records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Oversee accounting manager.
  • Assist senior management in financial planning and results management. Work with other team members to understand revenue and cost drivers and define appropriate reports for tracking.
  • Coordinate, prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Coordinate and/or preparing tax schedules, returns and information.
  • Manage relationships with insurance providers and ensure compliance and appropriate risk mitigation.
  • Manage all tax planning and compliance with all required federal, state, local, payroll, property and other applicable taxes.
  • Manage cash flow.
  • Build an accounting department as the company grows.
  • Prepare and deliver financial presentations to the Board of Managers.
  • Develop and coordinate all relationships with lending/financial institutions.
  • Other finance and administrative duties as required.
  • 7-10 plus years of managerial accounting and financial management experience with at least five years in a SAAS environment.
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP accounting for SAAS contracts including revenue recognition strategies and accrual accounting
  • Experience working in a growing start-up environment is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with raising capital and M&A is a plus
  • Knowledge of cloud and other software negotiation experience is a plus
  • Recent experience scaling a finance operation from inception to at least $50 million in annual revenues.
  • Proficiency with Quickbooks accounting software and related project reporting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business. CPA and/or CMA preferred but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a proven ability to build team culture.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in a business with activity-based project costing.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision, and efficiently manage tasks and time.
  • Ability to pro-actively manage conflict successfully.
